On Saturday the 4th of February, Stor-Age, South Africa’s leading self-storage company gave away a brand new Golf GTI to Doug Mallet, son of former Springbok Nick Mallet, at the Castle Cape Town Tens.

Stor-Age, sponsors of the Castle Cape Town Tens, ran the competition throughout the weekend, and in a lucky draw saw Mallet and five other contestants put their skills to test on the field. An elimination round saw three contestants drop out and Mallet was still in to win the GTI as they kicked to hit the crossbar.


Each contender was allocated one shot only from the ten metre line and had to hit the crossbar to win. Against all odds, and to the crowds disbelief, Ikey Tigers player Mallet hit the mark and won the Golf to the value of R365 000.

Elated by the win Mallet commented it was “Completely ridiculous. Stupidly lucky!”.

“We are thrilled that Mallet won the car and think it was an outstanding ending to an already successful rugby festival” said Gavin Lucas, CEO of Stor-Age.

The band was established and has achieved a local renown in a very short time, most recently performing at Rock the River.


A quick glance around the unit setup for band practice revealed a major set of drums and other musical equipment; however a closer look revealed the humorous and quirky side of the band as we noticed pictures of Justin Bieber and Britney Spears on the walls.
